Social Studies, Math | Kerry Taylor joined Valley Catholic in 2019 after a varied and stimulating history of teaching on three continents–North America, Asia, and Europe. He teaches 7th grade social studies and outdoor education. Kerry attended the University of San Francisco and earned a B.A. in History and International Studies as well as the University of London, SOAS where he received an M.A. in History of the Near and Middle East. While studying, he was exposed to history and culture in many contexts from archaeological fieldwork in Guatemala to reading and analyzing texts. Throughout this process, Kerry discovered how history shapes both individuals and their communities and how we can use these lessons to create a better future. Most recently, Kerry spent four years teaching at a private middle school in Los Angeles. Kerry received his Oregon Teaching License with endorsements in Social Studies, Multiple Subjects PreK-12, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Other than a love for education and history, Kerry enjoys spending time with his wife and kitties as well as traveling, camping, cooking, and birding.
