What a fun month we have had at the Early Learning School! The Sunflower students are making new friends. The children noticed that two of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon often walked by the playground on their way to work in the garden, and struck up a conversation through the fence. After a few days, the students invited the Sisters to join them for lunch – and they accepted! Together they prayed, ate, told stories and sang songs. The students loved getting to know the Sisters better, and cannot wait until their next luncheon. The Halloween costume parade was a huge success. Our students had so much fun and our friends in the other school buildings, Maryville and offices on campus loved seeing their smiling faces and costumes. Along with Halloween, we have been talking with our students about All Saints day. Preschool students attended Mass on November 1, All Saints’ Day, with all of the other students on campus.
Beginning this month, we will be participating in a service project called Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child provides gifts and essential items to children around the world, who would otherwise go without. Our goal this year is to have 100 shoeboxes filled with gifts, school supplies, hygiene items, and a toy for children ages 2-14. For $9 you can also pay for the shipping of your box (optional), and your family can pray together for the child that receives your box. Look for more information and sample boxes in our lobby soon! You can pick up a box from us, or use your own. Watch this video to see how your shoebox can change a child’s life.
