After thrilling home matches in volleyball, boys soccer and girls soccer – and a superb performance by our cross country teams at the Cowapa League championship – the Valiants moved into the OSAA state championships.

Girls Soccer: 2017 4A state champions!

The Valley Catholic girls soccer team won the 2017 OSAA 4A state championship in a hard-fought defensive match against Hidden Valley. Competing at Liberty High School in Hillsboro on Nov. 11, the Valiants won the match: 1-0.

It is the third state championship for Valiant girls soccer. They won the 3A/2A/1A championship in 2013 then won the 4A state championship in 2014. In 2016, they earned silver medals at state.

Callie Kawaguchi was named Player of the Game for Valley Catholic.

Round of 16: Playing in an OSAA State round of 16 match at Junction City High School on Oct. 31, the Valiants got another big win: 4-0.

Boys Soccer: first state championship appearance in 10 years

The Valiants advanced to the OSAA state championships in boys soccer for the first time since 2007. Congratulations to our student athletes and coaches on outstanding season that we will always remember!

Play-in Match: Their appearance at state followed a thrilling 4A state play-in game on Oct. 28, defeating North Marion 2-1 after two overtime periods, then winning on penalty kicks, 4-2. | Photo album | Video

Round of 16: In a state round of 16 match, the boys soccer team competed valiantly on the road before bowing to a talented team Molalla High School.

Volleyball: a superb season leads to silver medals at state

Congratulations to our Valiant volleyball team on their silver medal season!

With tremendous performances against Baker (straight sets in the quarterfinals) and Hidden Valley (straight sets in the semifinals), the Valiants faced a talented team from Sisters in the state finals. After an exciting four-set match, the Valiants were presented with silver medals for their outstanding performance – and season. Lizzy Osborn was named Player of the Game for Valley Catholic. She was also an unanimous choice for first team in the OSAA All-State Tournament Team. She was joined by Kayla Robbins (first team) and Allie Merz (second team).
