REMINDER FOR CURRENT VCES ELEMENTARY STUDENTS: Current Valley Catholic Elementary School parents do not need to use the same application process as prospective parents. VCES fifth grade students wishing to attend the Middle School (6-8) should complete the Current VCES Fifth Grade Admission form, available in the office. This form is due Friday, Feb. 8.

Acceptance letters for current VCES students will  be sent on Feb. 20.

Tuition:

The 2013-14 middle school tuition is $8,990 for the first child. A multiple child discount is available, deducting $250 for each additional sibling in grades K-12. There is also a $200 registration fee. Financial aid is available.

Academic Program:

Valley Catholic Middle School is a college preparatory school with high academic standards. Students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades participate in a specialized program designed to provide them with an age-appropriate transition through the middle school years and to prepare them for the academic challenges they will face in high school and college.

The program’s curriculum follows the requirements outlined in the content standards for the Archdiocese of Portland and the State of Oregon. Curriculum and policies were developed after thorough study of the Valley Catholic High School program and consultation with area public and parochial middle and high schools. In addition, Valley Catholic Middle School has several capstone projects that follow the standards of the IB Middle Years Programme, SUMMA and STEM programs.

Students learn the content outlined in this curriculum guide as part of the school’s program. Individual classroom teachers may add additional units in an effort to enhance the core curriculum. This information, along with any specific classroom procedures, grading policies, or class requirements will be listed on each individual teacher’s class syllabus distributed at the beginning of the academic year.

In appreciation for outstanding dedication to student excellence in science, mathematics and technology, student research at a middle or high school in Oregon and SW Washington.

Middle School Social Studies Teacher of the Year 2009-2010
Valley Catholic Middle School social studies teacher Courtney Ferrari received Teacher of the Year award from the Oregon Council for Social Studies at the statewide conference on October 8, 2010 in Eugene, Oregon.

Outstanding Science Teacher (Regional and State) 2009
Valley Catholic Middle School science teacher June Poling received the Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award at the Oregon Science Teachers’ Association’s Annual Conference - a state chapter of the National Science Teachers’ Association - on October 8, 2010 in Colton, Oregon.
