Every season brings its own special traditions, and spring is such a beautiful time on our campus. It is a time filled with traditions that impact many of our lives. These are some of my favorites.
Several Holy Week and Easter traditions touch my heart including teaching hymns to our K-5 students, sharing the Liturgies and participating in Holy Week services with my Sisters and the SSMO Community. Holy Thursday Mass, Good Friday Services, Easter Vigil, and Easter Masses at the Motherhouse and Maryville provide wonderful opportunities for quiet reflection.
We are fortunate to have music fill the air at Valley Catholic every spring. I treasure the elementary school’s spring concert featuring so many of our students' voices and our talented musicians.
I look forward to attending the elementary school’s Parent and Service Appreciation Prayer Service. It is a tradition that highlights our all-important volunteers and recognizes service projects students and classes have provided to our school and greater community.
I smile knowing that the end-of-school celebrations are just around the corner. Witnessing the transformation of students, especially those for kindergarten and fifth grade, is very satisfying. Events like the talent show, closing Mass and Commencement are traditions I look forward to each year.
These traditions bring us together as a community. They are made possible through gifts to the Annual Fund. Spring gives us another opportunity to participate in the Annual Fund by responding to a mailing shared this week. Your gifts help strengthen the Sisters’ mission of education: Be part of the tradition today by returning the light blue envelope or making your gift online.
Easter blessings to each of you!
