Our high school drama department's production of "Godspell" opens tonight at 7 p.m. with the first of six performances over the next two weekends. Director Ginnie Sutfin and the cast have been hard at work in preparation for what I am sure will be a fantastic show in our campus auditorium.

The VCES fourth-grader took gold in all four of his events at the Oregon State Qualifiers Championship for Taekwondo, earning him a spot on Oregon's national team. Way to go, Aditya!

VCMS eighth-graders, led by the tireless Mr. Lommen, have been continuing on their mission to teach Hands-Only CPR to as many people as possible. In February alone, they taught 1,088 people.

All of our athletic teams have ventured into unfamiliar territory this year — the 4A Cowapa League — and have performed Valiantly, some even through injuries. We congratulate these nine basketball players who have been honored by All-League team status.

A parent pre-game fiesta, a state-tournament basketball game and a terrific musical all converge on campus this Saturday afternoon and evening - enjoy one, two, or all three events.

This weekend, both our girls and boys teams will play first-round games in the state tournament: boys will play in Coos Bay on Friday, and girls will play on Saturday at home at 5 p.m.

We'll be giving out our cool new Blue Crew t-shirts to VC high school students who attend the girls basketball game Saturday at 5 p.m. Plus, any high school student who wears the new shirt to Godspell that night will get admission for free!

Lily Vollum, eighth-grade winner of our school geography bee, has qualified for the 2015 Oregon National Geographic State Bee. The Bee will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.

Through its traveling crib program, Catholic Charities collects baby items and maternity supplies to support women who are facing difficult situations.To help keep a balance of donated items, we have a suggested list for each grade level.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered two times during the Valley Catholic Elementary School year to students in Grades 3-5, once in Advent and once in Lent. The Lenten Reconciliation Service will be held in the Convent Chapel on Friday, March 20.

Godspell is the story of Jesus' life - set in modern times and told predominantly through song. The rock musical opens Friday, March 6. Performances will run weekends through March 15. Tickets are available for purchase online.

As a representative of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Board and a student of Japanese, Valley Catholic High School junior William Deatherage was invited to the ceremony and evening reception and asked to give the visitors a tour of the school.
