As you may have observed over the last year, our school has been using Tandem for Schools to manage all school calendars and events. This is THE place for you to find all school event information. You’ll be pleased to know that you can now see many dates filled in for the 2011-12 school year. Browse through the months as you would normally by clicking on the calendar icon on the home page of www.valleycatholic.org or by going to the full calendar.

However, to really make the calendar work for you and to use its full functionality, go to the Sign In link at the top of the school calendar page from our website and sign up for a free Tandem account to get these great benefits:

• Find all the calendar information you need in one place
• Integrate the school calendar with other tools like Cozi, Outlook, Google or iCal based on the groups you specify
• Get RSS Feeds
• And so much more!

Please note that the video was made using an older version of the Tandem calendar; however, navigation should be fairly similar. We appreciate your patience as Tandem updates this and other video tutorials.

Welcome back to another round of tips for making www.valleycatholic.org work for you.  This week, we’re focused on increasing the use of our online school calendar which has built-in systems for helping parents stay current with changes and additions to the schedule. We thought that with spring sports coming up, parents would benefit from the ability to keep a close eye on any changes to games and matches due to our Oregon weather. When an event is rescheduled, the VCS calendar is updated in a timely fashion. All you have to do is sign yourself up to get notified!

The VCS calendar is easy to use!

First, if you haven’t had a chance to sign up for using the calendar system, go here for a quick, free signup process; you may also use the Connect With Facebook feature and use your profile to log into the calendar. Once you have an account and are signed in, the event tracking and filtering feature may be used to find only events that you are interested in.

You may filter events by school or by group, with group names representing specific teams (they are sorted alphabetically in a drop-down menu). Once the filter is set, it is always possible to reset the calendar to show all events by clicking the “clear” text on the calendar page.
