Daffodil Teacher Spotlight: Sister Thuy Doan
Daffodil Teacher Sister Thuy (“Twee”) Doan, SSMO, volunteered at VCELS during her last term working on a bachelor’s degree in child and family studies at Portland State University.
After graduation, Sister Thuy substituted in several classrooms including the Daffodil Room. She joined the VCELS staff full time on March 4, 2010, with the toddlers in Daffodils.
Sister Thuy says that her vocation is very important to her and feels that she is called to work with children. In fact, you will often find her teaching religious education classes in her free time! She loves to talk about her vocation and the life that she has been called to lead.
Often you will see Sister Thuy sitting with the children and reading books. The children love taking turns “reading” to Sister, telling the story themselves or finding a picture of Sister in the latest Spirit magazine. We are blessed to have a daily reminder of the SSMO charism working among us.
