Music School Offers Music Readiness Program
Submitted by Melinda Mannen, Valley Catholic Music School
After its highly successful summer debut, the Valley Catholic Music Readiness program has begun as a school time offering. On Tuesday, October 18, 2011, the class was filled to capacity with five budding future musicians eager to begin their musical journey. Teacher Kimberly Mish guided them through an energetic 45 minutes of musical introduction to interactive and shared singing, keeping rhythm on their rhythm sticks, playing musical pumpkin, learning note values and rests, solfege (DO, RE, MI, FA, SO) and much more. The offering was so popular that a second class was added for Thursdays and is nearly filled as well. We look forward to nurturing the love of music in our newest, youngest music school students. This course will be offered again in the winter and spring.
Valley Catholic Music Readiness program: Children four and five years of age have fun with music, learning notes, rhythms and solfege, and they sing fun songs, gaining experience in ear training, beat and music theory.
