Valley Catholic Student Participates at Oregon Chess Night

On the Portland Beaver’s “Oregon Chess Recognition Night” Valley Catholic Elementary student Abhinav Prudvi represented Valley Catholic School as one of the Quad winners.

The event was held at the Portland Beavers baseball game on Tuesday, July 28 in the afternoon. All participants were given free items including a hat, and were introduced on the field before the game began.

Valley Catholic Golfer Wins Tournament

lindsay_father_harmonValley Catholic’s own Lindsay Harmon won the OGA Parent-Child tournament, and for the first time in the 59 year history, a Father-Daughter team won the event.

Lindsay and her father both worked toward a seven under par to win! Also, Valley Catholic student Gloria Davis and her stepfather Mark Hudspeth had a score of 13-under par to win the Net competition.

Valley Catholic Athletics Update

football_newsThe first day of fall practice is Monday, August 24.  Specific times and locations for each sport will be posted on their respective sports pages shortly.  Sports physicals are required every two years and must be turned in to the office prior to participation in practice.  State law requires that physicals be filled out on the OSAA form.  The form can be downloaded here.

Valley Catholic Teacher Named Beaverton Symphony Director

travis_hattonTravis Hatton, long-time Director of Orchestras for Valley Catholic Middle and High School, was recently named as the Music Director for the Beaverton Chamber Symphony Orchestra. He will continue working at the school but adds this position to his long list of achievements. Hatton’s versatile conducting career spans a broad range of musical companies around the world. He has led opera and ballet companies throughout Europe and America, and has appeared as a guest conductor with orchestras in Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and in Boston, Tennessee, Indiana, California, Alaska, Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Texas. As a choral conductor, Hatton has conducted opera choruses in Europe as well as California, Indiana, Oregon and Washington.
