Valley Catholic Hosts Regional Science Fair: Results

science_fair17Valley Catholic Middle School hosted their seventh annual regional science fair on Friday, April 17. Several Portland metro area 6th-8th grade students competed for prizes and displayed their scientific theories.

From the sun to goldfish, students presented their findings as judges went around and looked at all the experiments. Scholarships that can be applied to tuition at any Catholic school within the Archdiocese of Portland were awarded to the top 8th grade projects. Read the rest of this entry »

MS Students Place High Again at Intel NW Science Expo

Out of a record 74 school participants, Valley Catholic Middle School was named again as one of the top four finalists for the OMSI Outstanding Research School of the Year. (In 2008, Valley Catholic Middle School earned first place.) There were also a record 288 middle school projects at this year’s fair, of which, Valley had 18 students participate. Our students earned several awards and special recognition from community and special intersest groups. Here are the results for how our students did. Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Lawn Published on cover of Portrait Magazine

The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon campus front lawn was featured as the “Best Ever” lawn in Beaverton on the cover of the 2009 Portrait magazine. Portrait is published by Pamplin Media Group annually as a souvenir edition of the Beaverton Valley Times and The Times, serving Tigard, Tualatin and Sherwood. New Head Volleyball Coach, Harvard Star and U of O Assistant

Valley Catholic’s Athletic Department Welcomes Justin Denham, Former Harvard Star and University of Oregon Assistant Coach, as Head Coach of its Volleyball Program

In the fall of 2009 Justin Denham will join Valley Catholic’s coaching staff as head volleyball coach, bringing a long and varied volleyball experience to a Valley program that was State runner-up in 2008. He began his volleyball playing career in 1996 for Camarillo High School in Southern California (he was also Camarillo’s tight end in football). In his second season, he was named to the all CIF Southern Section team as a middle blocker. He played volleyball for Harvard University from 1999 to 2002, where he earned a degree in archeology, earning four varsity letters, three as a middle blocker and one as an outside hitter. He was ranked nationally in 2000 for hitting percentage, in 2001 for kills/game, and in 2002 for aces/game, blocks/game, and hitting percentage.
