WHEN
THE ABC's ARE FOR
ADVENTURES, BAKING AND
CHINA PAINTING
Valley
Catholic Middle School offers unique enrichment classes
for its students
In addition to the basic
curriculum, Valley Catholic Middle School offers its students the chance
to take special enrichment classes.
The classes meet once
a semester and are taught by campus school officials, Valley Catholic
faculty, parent volunteers and a number of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon (SSMO).
Last year's enrichment
classes included everything from baking and china painting to weight training
and outdoor ventures.
As you'll see in the
photos below, the students enjoyed the time they spent with the faculty as
well as the chance to learn new skills.

Sister Ina Marie Nosack
demonstrated the baking techniques that have made her cinnamon
rolls legendary on the SSMO campus.

Sister
Patricia Lulay and Sister Delores Adelman and these students
ventured outdoors. They
explored the SSMO campus and learn how to identify plants, trees
and urban wildlife. They also learned about environmental
practices on campus and they participated in hands-on projects
such as tree planting.

Painting
on porcelain (plates, cups, vases, etc.) is an enduring
tradition in
Sister Adele Marie Altenhofen's family. In this class,
students learned about the different paints, pens, brushes and
techniques needed to transform an ordinary piece of unglazed
bisque or glazed chinaware into a masterpiece.
