VALLEY CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ATHLETICS

The physical education program at Valley Catholic Elementary School offers skill development in volleyball, basketball and baseball as well as dancing, pickle ball, and speedminton, a form of badminton, along with many other activities such as swimming. P.E. classes meet twice a week for 45 minutes per class and in addition to skill development, the program includes fitness testing twice a year. Development and fitness skills tested include endurance, agility, flexibility and strength.

Valley Catholic Elementary School is also involved in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). The CYO program offers several sports for those students who want to be involved in extracurricular, after-school sports. The fall sports include co-ed basketball for 1st and 2nd graders and volleyball for 3rd-5th grade girls. Football is also offered in the fall through CYO. The players play for the Region 6 CYO team comprised of players from several local Catholic schools.  3rd and 4th graders play flag football in full gear, while 5th graders play tackle on a 5th/6th grade team.  Boys and girls are both welcome to compete.

Winter sports include 3rd-5th grade basketball for both boys and girls and K-5th grade swimming for boys and girls. The only spring sport offered is track and field and it is available to all 3rd-5th grade students.  All elementary CYO sports at Valley Catholic rely on parent volunteers for coaching.

In addition to the CYO sports, Valley also offers cross country in the fall for 5th graders. They are members of a 3rd through 8th grade team, and run in divisions of their own age groups. This is a non-CYO sport and is organized and coached by a Valley Catholic staff member.
