Tommy Manning

Tommy ManningTommy Manning came to Valley in the 2006-2007 school year.  He currently teaches American Government and Modern World History, Global Studies, and a conditioning course and is Chairman of the Social Studies Department.  He is also head men’s cross country coach and co-head track coach.  At Jesuit High School, Tommy earned 1st team All-State honors, leading Jesuit to its first State Championship in men’s cross country in 2000; he was also State Champion at 1500 meters in 2001.  Tommy earned his B.A. in Government from Georgetown and an M.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in International Affairs, also at Georgetown. He spent a summer in Belfast researching his Master’s thesis documenting the civil strife of Northern Ireland.  At Georgetown Tommy earned several All-Big East honors, qualified for NCAA nationals in the 800 meters and Distance Medley relay, earning All-American honors in both events. He continues to run recreationally and enjoys travelling, exploring the outdoors, and following politics.
