Sarah Lynch, Valley Catholic’s Dean of Academics and teacher of Global Studies, Psychology, Sociology and Religion, immigrated to the United States from Scotland. She earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Theology from Neumann College in Pennsylvania. Sarah first taught in Silver Spring, Maryland, for three years, then received a teaching assistantship at Portland State University and completed a Master’s in Sociology. She worked in a community-action program in Newark, Delaware for two years before returning to the northwest to teach at Sacred Heart Academy in Klamath Falls for three years in the Social Studies Department. Sarah then taught at Central Catholic High School in Portland for five years in both the social studies and religion departments before coming to Valley in 1985. Sarah and her husband Patrick are members of St. Pius X Catholic Parish. Their only child, Charlotte, graduated from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and received her Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago. As part of the Scottish community in Portland, Sarah has been active in the Scottish Highland Dance community and the Scottish Highland Games Association for many years.
