Kipp Johnson

Kipp Johnson has taught mathematics at Valley Catholic since 1986 and is the chairman of the math department. His current assignments are Calculus I, II, and III, Pre-Calculus, and honors math courses in the Middle School. Kipp earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Princeton in chemistry and has in past years taught both chemistry and physics at Valley. Before coming to Valley Kipp served for eleven years as pastor at two Protestant churches on the Oregon coast. Kipp has been honored by the College Board’s Advanced Placement program as one of Oregon’s most successful calculus teachers: for many years Kipp’s students have earned AP scores among the state’s very best. Kipp and his wife Teresa are the parents of two Valley grads, Seay and Kohler. In 2008 Kohler graduated from Princeton in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and was awarded the Lore Von Jaskowsky Prize for excellence in research and overall contribution to the Engineering School and the John Marshall II Prize in aerospace engineering. Kipp has played the piano for fifty years but is still working on Brahms’ Paganini Variations.
