Tatiana Hornal is an accomplished violinist and teacher, coming after a long journey as a soloist as well as an orchestra player. At the age of 5, she received her first violin and piano lessons in Russia. Her highly-motivated musical family encouraged her to pursue a musical career throughout the years. Her love for music was not just developed, but it was also born within her. Her 17 years of study included classes in Composition, Music Literature, Theory, Voice and Conducting. All of these aspects helped her to pursue music with maximum effort and joy.
She brilliantly won first place in competitions at the ages of 12 and 14. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Novosibirsk Conservatory in Russia. Her knowledge was received from the renowned teacher, Zakhary Bron, considered one of the world's best teachers. As a talented and inspiring violinist in 1993, she was invited to be a soloist for an event called "Michigan-Baikal International Forum" for American astronauts.
Her powerful knowledge of music and teaching attracted many brilliant students, such as the highly acclaimed violinist, Vadim Repin, and Ilya Konovalov, concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Her strong audition skills allowed her to get into one of the greatest opera and ballet theatres in Europe, the Bolshoi Theatre. Ms. Hornal has toured with many different orchestras to countries such as Germany, Spain, USA, Switzerland, Austria, as well as many countries throughout Eastern Europe. Tatiana has also sung in Russian opera and has been featured for her musical talent multiple times on Russian television.
In 1995, after moving to the U.S., she worked in the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra as the assistant concertmaster. Her other jobs in Alaska were in the Anchorage Ballet, Opera and Chamber Orchestra. She has been living in Oregon since 2001. Currently, in addition to teaching at the Valley Catholic Music School, she owns her own private studio, and she is a member of the Astoria Music Festival. Her students play in the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and Portland Youth Philharmonic. She enjoys teaching and inspiring her students to love music.
