Kimberly Mish started playing violin at the age of 10. Flute, piano and saxophone lessons followed soon thereafter. During her high school years she enjoyed playing in Jazz Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, Choir, small ensembles and community orchestras. Her first music teaching position was for her High School Orchestra Director as a student teacher for violin, viola and cello. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. There she completed a double major on Flute and Violin and was awarded her Teaching Endorsement for grades K-12. Her college student teaching included instructing String Programs for K-12 students in Grand Island Nebraska as well as General Music education classes for K-6. Her accomplishments in college include Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Marching Band. She was awarded the Outstanding Senior Award in College of the Fine Arts Department and was the first instrumentalist to win the Kearney Area Concerto Competition on Flute.
After completing her Education degree she attended the University of Iowa where she obtained a Music Therapy degree. Since then she has worked as a Music Therapist in various settings including long-term care facilities, Dementia units, Autistic children, rehabilitation patients and Hospice programs.
Mrs. Mish currently teaches at Valley Catholic and at her private studio in Hillsboro. She loves teaching and feels it is a blessing to be able to share the love of music with her students. She also a proud parent of two daughters who attend Valley Catholic Elementary School.
